Hm.... well, I have to say this for the 1991 shows! (And even more so 1990) The setlists were never crazier, never more unpredictable than in that one hoarse-throated year. 1992 was another high water mark for crazy set lists... where songs we couldn't imagine in later years (Bob Dylan's Dream, Idiot Wind, Jokerman, Joey, etc.) making regular appearances.

I just have to say something about the authors comment about Dylan being drunk at the 1991 Grammys first of all I believe it's common knowledge that Dylan was under the weather and had a fever of I think it was a hundred and three degrees when he was there that night and let's face it these Awards shows are pretty silly to begin with but getting the Lifetime Achievement Award he showed up and gave a performance of one of his songs and maybe it wasn't the greatest performance but the song Still the song and I remember seeing members of the B-52's in the audience and they look like they didn't care much for the man on stage and I thought to myself The B-52s and Bob Dylan give me a break where are The B-52s today thank you but the author ought to know better than to make comments about Bill Dylan being drunk.

People on one of the Dylan Facebook groups were talking about how awful the concert from 1991 in Offenbach is. I was initially angry that his people would let him get on stage in that shape and then angry at him for doing so. However, the longer I listened it started seeming to me like I was being punked. Either that or he was really sobering up as he went along. It reminds me of how during countless concerts of his I have listened to, the sound is horrible but then starts to really clear up about three or four songs into it. You can't tell me that someone of his stature cannot afford a sound guy who is any better than that. I think it is is part of his aesthetic and we are all the victims.
